REAL-TIME PCR
Real-time PCR can augment high-density microarray experiments, providing a less expensive alternative for examining the expression of specific sets of genes or for verifying specific gene expression changes identified by microarray. We have designed over 80 macaque-specific primer sets, the majority of which focus on T- and B-cell receptor signaling, the innate immune response, and Toll-like receptor signaling. These primers are optimized for use with the Applied Biosystems (ABI) 7900HT Fast Real-Time PCR system for running TaqMan Low Density Arrays (TLDAs). This platform supports both 96- and 384-well formats, can be automated for large numbers of runs, and provides rapid results relative to full-scale microarrays.
